What is the multiple locations on submissions feature?
The Multiple Locations feature allows agencies to associate more than one address, parcel, or set of coordinates with a single submission or permit.
This enhancement introduces both a Primary Location and Secondary Locations, giving agencies and applicants the flexibility to manage permits that span multiple sites—such as several parcels, utility routes, or event locations. You are also able to flag points of interest.
How does the multiple locations on submissions feature work?
With this update, users can now select and manage multiple locations within a single submission:
- Applicants can choose multiple parcels, addresses, or sets of coordinates during the application process when their project affects more than one site.
- Platform Users can add, edit, and remove Primary and Secondary Locations from the Submission View.
- A Primary Location remains the main reference point for GIS rules, validation, and mapping, while any additional sites are saved as Secondary Locations.
- The Map View and Submission View Sidebar have been updated to clearly display all locations and related geographic data.
- Secondary Locations can also be included in Forms, Issued Documents, Saved Views, and Submission Exports for reporting and recordkeeping.
This ensures a complete and accurate picture of every project’s geographic scope—all within a single submission.
Why did we create this feature?
Many government permits impact multiple parcels, addresses, or sets of coordinates—but until now, submissions could only be tied to a single location. This feature was designed to:
- Support complex, real-world permitting scenarios such as developments across multiple parcels, utility work along routes, or citywide maintenance activities.
- Enhance data accuracy by capturing all affected sites through structured, validated map-based selection.
- Streamline workflows by eliminating the need for duplicate permits or multiple applications for the same project.
- Improve reporting and analysis by consolidating all location data into one record for easier tracking, compliance monitoring, and spatial reporting.
By enabling multiple locations per submission, agencies can issue one comprehensive permit while maintaining clear, reliable geographic data.
