Guide Steps are a foundational piece of the Camino Solution. Each one represents a step (piece, requirement) in your application/license/permit process.
There are eight types of step actions available.
- No Action Required - this type of step action is informational only. They are used when you need to provide information to your customers, but there is no resulting action for them or your staff. An example of this type of step action would be when there are code ordinances that a customer should review prior to submittal of their project/application.
- Upload Documents - this type of step action is only available if you have the Documents feature enabled for your organization. It allows the customer to upload documents as part of the process. You have the option to set this type of step as required for application submission. You also have the option to specify the number of uploads required. As example of this type of step action would be when plan sets are required for a Building Permit.
- Fill out a Form - this type of step action is only available if you have the Forms feature enabled for your organization. You will be required to select a pre-uploaded form to this step when this step action is selected. If you have built out required fields in the form attached, the customer will need to complete those fields in order to complete the step towards submission. The customer has the option to download the completed form as well. You'll note in the solution, as the customer completes the required fields, the progress bars moves accordingly. If fields are then removed, the form reverts back to incomplete. With this type of step action, you have the ability to allow the customer to provide supplemental document uploads. An example of this would be a form
- General Task or Approval - this type of step action requires the responsible party assigned to the guide step to Mark as Complete as part of the process. This type of step can be made required for submittal. In addition, you have the ability to allow the customer or responder to provide supplemental document uploads associated with a task. An example may be an inspection. While there may be no form to complete, pictures proving proper safety and secured plates over a trench are required.
- Pay a Fee - this type of step action allows the agency to provide fee information and the ability for their customers to pay the fees online. You can provide information only to your customers as well and do not have to utilize the only payment portion. It can be configured to mirror an existing fee schedule that is includes flat fees or formula(s). When a formula has variable(s), you will need to create the variable(s) as a data field. The Camino solution will then ask the customer to complete that variable(s) in order to calculate those fees prior to providing the guide or application.
- Information Collection - this type of step action allows the agency to create steps that contain data fields for the customers to complete. The data fields can be required on a one by each basis.
- Inspection - this type of step action allows the agency to schedule and track inspections in the Camino solution. This step can be setup so that customers can request an inspection, in which case the agency must confirm. Or they can be setup so that only the agency can manage that entirely. This can also be used as an information step for Guide only configurations.
- Document Issuance - this type of step action allows the agency to select a form template that can be pre-populated with from information provided by the applicant in data fields. Here the admins can complete (perhaps sign) the document and issue it to the customer. Once issued, it becomes a PDF that cannot be altered. This can be used for things like permit placards, or certificates of inspection completion.
